G8 Establishes Korean Office in South Korea to develop Offshore Wind & Floating solar Projects
G8 has established a development office in South Korea (G8 Renewable Energy Korea Ltd. Co.) to develop its plan for 2GW of offshore renewable energy project with Korean partners. The company will be leveraging its marine construction experience to accelerate renewable energy construction with key projects identified with its South Korean partners. G8 Management team was in South Korea to inaugurate the opening of its office and spearheading project and technical development partnerships in South Korea.
G8 is a pioneering Offshore Windfarm constructor in South Korea having been involved in the first windfarm construction in the country since 2017. G8’s Managing Director Gerald Tan commented: '' South Korea is an important market for G8 due to its vast wind resource and favourable governmental policies towards offshore wind and floating solar development', we will strive to continue our objective in developing world leading renewable energy projects with our partners in this region''.
The company had recently signed an exclusive development agreement with a key Korean partner for 1.5GW of offshore wind projects. Additionally, G8 has also entered to a technological development framework with leading structural engineering firm Wookyung Engineering & Construction to develop the next generation offshore windfarm structures incorporating G8's proprietary MTB ( Modular Tractive Buoyancy) system to scale up offshore renewable energy production in S-Korea.
G8 Korea's COO Pascal Cheon commented: ‘’We target to accelerate our offshore Wind and Floating Solar projects in Korea with G8’s expertise in marine construction and technology.’’
